2015 ELECTIONS: PDP ACCUSES APC, BUHARI

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari of planning fake poll rating.

According to the PDP, the APC created the poll in such a way to make the Nigerian public believe that 75 percent of the voting population is in support of Buhari ahead of the February 14 Presidential election.

This was disclosed in a statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, in Abuja on Monday, Punch reports.

“This election is not about political window-dressing and dramatizing. What will count is record of performance and antecedents, in which President Jonathan stands taller than Buhari.

“It is therefore not surprising that the APC and its Presidential candidate will resort to organizing a kangaroo opinion rating in a failed attempt to cover up their inadequacies and manipulate public perception in their favour,” Metuh said.

He claimed that part of the strategy was a disguised mobile phone balloting application being circulated by the APC, whereby a curious click elicits a thank-you message from them and automatically registers the unsuspecting phone user as having voted in support of Buhari.

The PDP therefore urged the APC to focus on real campaign and try to win followers genuinely, adding that “the APC ‘change agenda’ should be based on issues and not on change of dressing and religious gathering.

Metuh called on Nigerians to be wary of this plot to deceive the public and truncate the democratic process.

The PDP in Edo state had earlier warned the presidential candidate of the APC, Buhari and the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to stay away from the state.

5 Scientifically Proven Ways Money Can Buy You Happiness

Whether or not money can buy happiness has been argued over and over in the time past and money not being a source of happiness always win the debate. According to Nobel-prive winning economist, Daniel Kanheman, you do not need beyond an annual income of $75,000 (almost 13,000,000 naira), which should more than enough to fund a comfortable lifestyle, to make you happy. The school of thought that money can not buy happiness is dependent on the hedonic adaptation theory. According to this theory, human brain only adjusts to what it senses; what’s new today becomes old tomorrow and so the same applies with the material things you buy with money. The thrill you get from the new phone or television you just got wears out as you get used to it. So, what is the use of the things acquired with money if they can provide a lasting feeling of satisfaction, excitement as the first time, argued some psychologists.

Well, according to a recent study published in a book written by Elizabeth Dun; an associate professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia and Michael Norton; an associate professor of Marketing at Harvard Business School titled “Happy Money: The Science of Smarter Spending”, money can buy you happiness. According to the writers, the key to having a long term happiness from the thing you purchase with your money is shifting the attention from buying stuff to experience and from spending on yourself to spending on others. These are the five principles, in summary, to buying happiness:

David Moyes Returns To Management: Appointed As Real Sociedad Manager

Former Manchester United manager, David Moyes has made his return to management after 7 months away as he was announced as the new manager of Liga BBVA side, Real Sociedad.

David Moyes suffered a torrid time at Manchester United and was relieved of his managerial duties after just nine months in charge of the Old Trafford outfit. Moyes was rumored to be in talks with officials from Galatasaray in the summer but the former Everton manager decided to take a managerial sabbatical before returning to the rigors of management.

Real Sociedad on their part have found it hard to replicate their form of last season and sespite beating Real Madrid 4-2, have only managed one other win in the league this season.

While Manchester United may have been a little too big for Moyes, Sociedad might just be the ideal place for the Scott as he has a track record of being able to stir the ship right… at least at a mid-table club.

BBA Hotshots: Housemates Get Edgy

Almost becoming a reoccurring factor in the house, there were tears yesterday as Sipe took offense to an off-hand remark by Idris about her being a gold-digger. She immediately fled to the bedroom where she was comforted by Goitse, and later JJ as well who both encouraged her to be strong and keep on playing the game the way she has always known how to. They told her she that she was a strong woman that was neither a quitter nor the type of person to leave the house without a fight.

Idris on his part seemed not to be aware of the fact that he had hurt Sipe’s feelings with his remarks as he went on to join Samantha and Tayo outside in a conversation that ranged from tourist sites in Africa ranging from Montecasino in South Africa to Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania. Lilian was also sitter with them but she appeared to be bored or perhaps didn’t have much to contribute to the conversation.

After the housemates received the brief for the second week’s Extravaganza including further instructions on how they would proceed with their tasks, the teams split up and discussed their ideas. Between talk of amnesia, the mafia, family rivalry, gods and pregnant girls, teams had the dramatic element nailed. We can’t wait till they start putting their dances together!

The teams seemed to be different from those of last week just as the dynamics seemed better than those of the previous week. However, It did not take long before arguments and confusion broke out within the teams. Sheillah (in Team B) got very upset, complaining that other team members would not let her get a word in edgewise. In Team A, JJ was having no problem making himself heard, taking the lead as always.

Disagreements were however minor, and the housemates exchanged creative ideas between themselves. It is left to be seen if this period of bliss will last till Saturday night, or if a misunderstanding will push a housemate over the edge.
